This whopper 56cm (22') Maori Manaia Wall Art is a stunning piece to put on your wall.

This contemporary artwork, with its intricate design and super fine detail, is crafted from Gaboon veneer plywood and medium density fibreboard (mdf), and embellished with Faux fur and Paua Shell laminate.

Paua is New Zealand's native abalone, found only in NZ waters. Its shell is beautiful, with irridescent shades of blue, green, pink and purple. No two pieces of shell are the same.

Te Manaia is a Guardian Spirit, a supernatural being playing an important protective role in the Maori world. To Maori, everybody has a Guardian Spirit, an unseen light surrounding each individual.

During life this guardian is a protector from evil and untimely accident. At death the guardian guides the spirit of the departed person safely to a spiritual doorway where it is re-united with the ancestors from the ancient homeland of Hawaaiki.
